Philosophers Christmas – 2025

STRAND: PHILOSOPHER’S CHRISTMAS

The presenters at this year’s Philosophers’ Christmas were: Peter K, Paul, David, Jonathan, Tom, Anna, Michael, Ranald and Zbyszek. It was a very musical event with Paul, Jonathan, Tom, Anna and Michael presenting musical items. Many thanks to everyone who contributed and to everyone who brought food or drink for the party.

Presenter’s items included:

Peter Keeble – summary of “The Self” – key thoughts from the Autumn 2025 Term (pdf document attached)

Ranald – Translation of Soracte – Horace Odes 1.9 (pdf document attached)

Paul – presented two songs from our music-drama Newton written by Laura Stanton, Ezra Williams and myself. They are Place of Wonders and Still Waters Run Deep. Both are from the Water Rats production. Please click on the links below:

Z – presented an extract from a book about his mother’s experiences in the Warsaw Uprising of 1944 (pdf attached)

Michael – sang his own song: “Three and a Half Years”, accompanying himslef on the guitar. The Lyrics and chords are attached. 

Tom – sang two songs: ‘The Wild Rover’ and ‘Paper Moon’ and recited ‘The Host of the Air’ by Yeats.
